Tips to apply for benefits during unprecedented demand

- Staff report

Due to an unprecedented increase in applications for Medi-Cal, CalFresh and CalWORKS, Yolo County residents may experience extended wait times and delays in processing benefits. Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) is processing applications in the order they are received.

To avoid any preventable delays in processing an application, HHSA recommends submitting a completed application.

Requirements:

• Completed application form(s) with as many questions answered as possible

• Signatures for all applicable form(s)

• Proof of Residency, Identification, Income and other applicable verifications

• Current contact information where you can be reached

Clients should arrive on time for an appointment or call. Rescheduling missed appointments can add multiple weeks to the process.
