Winters Theatre Company presenting audience participat­ion comedy, auditions for DMTC production

The Woodland Opera House will be presenting “Through the Looking Glass,” a delightful and funfilled performanc­e from their youngest dance students.

“These dancers have been preparing all year to highlight the skills they have been learning in their classes,” said the Woodland Opera House’s website. “Told in a linear story, families will be delighted to visit Wonderland through dance!”

Shows are scheduled to take place May 6 and 1921. Downstairs tickets are $12 for adults and seniors and $8 for youth. Balcony seats are $10 for adults and seniors and $5 for youth.

“Sweeney Todd” tells the infamous tale of the unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19th century London seeking revenge against the lecherous judge who framed him, according to DMTC’s website.

All roles are open including Sweeney Todd, Judge Turpin, Mrs. Lovett and Todd’s long-lost daughter Johanna.

Callbacks will take place on May 2. The play opens Friday, June 23.

The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre will be performing at the Mondavi Center on April 18 and 19.

One of the trailblaze­rs of modern dance, Alvin Ailey dedicated his company to enriching the American modern dance heritage and preserving the uniqueness of the African-American cultural experience.

In 2008, a U.S. Congressio­nal resolution designated the Company as “a vital American cultural ambassador to the world.”

“Under the leadership of Robert Battle, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater continues to embody the legacy of its founder by celebratin­g artistic excellence, unbounded creativity, and the power of art to transform and engage,” the Mondavi Center’s website said. “Expect daring new works placed in fascinatin­g conversati­on with timeless classics like Ailey’s own Revelation­s. ”

The Winters Theatre Company will be presenting “Tony and Tina’s Wedding” as a dinner theater production at The Green River Brewing and Taproom.

The production is an audience participat­ion comedy. Audience members will be guests at Tony and Tina’s wedding and have the opportunit­y to join along in the wedding festivitie­s and family fun.

Dinner will be catered by Green River with vegetarian options available. Shows will be held May 5 to 7. Tickets are $50 general admission for dinner and the show and $45 for seniors and children under 12.
