Fatal Traffic Collision: On April 8 at 4:27 p.m., an officer spotted a vehicle being driven erraticall­y. The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over and then pursued the car to the intersecti­on of College and Court Streets. The car collided with two other vehicles causing two cars to catch fire.

Woodland Fire arrived and requested four ambulances to respond to the scene. One person died and ten additional people were injured. Investigat­ors have determined that the driver of the vehicle that the officer was following is a 13-year-old boy who was driving a stolen car. CHP is investigat­ing the cause of the crash. We will post more informatio­n as it becomes available.

The 13-year-old driver involved in this collision has been taken into custody for murder, evading police that caused injury and vehicle theft. The driver was booked at Juvenile Hall

On April 12, a 4-year-old girl died in the hospital from wounds suffered in the collision.

Prowling, Resisting Arrest: On April 9 at 11:15 p.m., Michael Cello, a 34-year-old Galt resident, was banging on the front door of the residence located on the 1900Block of Maxwell Avenue. Cello was not known to the resident. When nobody answered the door, Cello went around to the back of the home and banged on the rear door, trying to get in. Cello was contacted by officers and would not stop when ordered to.

Ultimately, Cello stopped and was arrested for prowling and delaying. Cello was transporte­d to the Yolo County Jail. Residentia­l Burglary: On April 13 at 6:43 p.m., officers went to the 700 Block of Cleveland Street for an in progress residentia­l burglary. The homeowner had just arrived home from work and found a male in her living room. The homeowner was able to exit her home and call 9-1-1. The homeowner gave dispatch a great descriptio­n of the suspect, which would lead to his apprehensi­on. When officers arrived, they saw a large hole broken out of the residence’s front window. Officers spotted the suspect walking north on Cleveland Street.

The suspect stopped and was safely taken into custody. The suspect, 34year-old Galt resident Michael Cello, was booked at the Yolo County Jail for felony burglary.
