Eleanor “ellie” a. ewald, age 87, of el dorado hills, california, passed away on sunday, february 26, 2023 due to natural causes. ellie was born in cambridge, mn to lloyd and alma (blackeberg) jacobson. she grew up with 4 siblings in a working-class home, graduated from vocational high school and soon after married the love of her life, robert g. ewald on june 12, 1955 in mn. afterwards, they moved to san francisco when robert accepted employment with united airlines sfo and then started their family. later they moved to fremont where they spent most of their life before retirement. ellie worked as an office administra­tor for a large modular office company once the kids were all in high school. once retired they moved briefly to redding, but later settled into a wonderful community in woodland, ca (the city of trees). they were happily married for 66 years. ellie was an outgoing person and very active in their local american lutheran church and the senior center where ellie coordinate­d the weekly card game of pedro. ellie made friends easily and was always excited to hear about the grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren adventures and accomplish­ments. she enjoyed traveling when robert retired joining a united airlines retirement club that traveled to london, thailand, and australia/new zealand. she enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, bingo, and of course, her trips to the casino for some games of chance. ellie passed having said goodbye to her family and was excited to be reunited with her husband. she will be dearly missed. ellie is survived by her three children, stephen (laurie), robert, and susan (mike) stevens, her sister carol (hansen); sister in laws, marilyn grasdalen and ione jacobson. grandchild­ren, jamie (christophe­r) rubidoux, candice (miles) torregano, christophe­r (molly) mathews-ewald, katherine ewald, angela (tim) lillibridg­e , michelle (tyler) hurd, joseph ewald and great -grandchild­ren (makayla, miles jr, chase, xander, jocelyn, max) she is proceeded in death by her husband, robert, her parents, her sisters pearl, ann jeanette, and her brother lloyd. there will be a graveside service on friday, april 21st at 1:00 pm. at monument hill memorial park county rd 22, woodland, ca 95695 for family and friends.
