As a classified employee of Woodland Joint Unified School District, David Hadley is doing his part to ensure that all Woodland Joint Unified School District students graduate and are prepared for college or a career.

Hadley is currently serving as an accounting technician in the district’s business department. Accounting technicians perform a variety of accounting duties, including processing and auditing invoices, preparing and reviewing tax forms, and various other accounting duties.

“I review purchase order requests to make sure the information is correct and process them so that schools and facilities can purchase the supplies they need,” Hadley stated. “I also review and process invoices submitted by schools and departments, as well as train new staff on accounts payable procedures.”

Like any job, being an accounting technician has its own set of challenges.

“We always have to make sure we are in compliance with all our procedures,” stated Hadley. “Also, we have to ensure we have the appropriate supporting documentation at all times.”

For Hadley, the position allows him to make a positive impact districtwide, he said.

“What I like best about my job is the reward of being able to help all the schools and departments of Woodland Joint Unified School District in an indirect way,” he said.

Classified staff are district employees, other than credentialed teachers, who provide a variety of highquality services to students. Their roles are essential to the district’s mission of preparing all students for a future of endless possibilities.

“I make sure teachers and administrators are able to purchase the supplies and materials they need to support our students,” Hadley said.

Hadley, who graduated from Woodland Adult Education and attended Asher College, said accounting can be a promising career for those interested in the financial sector.

“For someone interested in this career, my advice is to pay attention to detail,” he said. “It’s very important for entering data into accounting systems and for being able to examine and process payments.”

In his spare time, Hadley enjoys playing golf and attending sporting events and concerts.
