`Yolo to Kona Coffee Event' at Steady Eddy's, `WaterWise Landscape Tour'

Steady Eddy's will be hosting its “Yolo to Kona Coffee Event” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 5 East Main St. in Winters.

“The community will get the pleasure of meeting Greg and Susy Stille and their family, the founders of Monarch Coffee,” the event's press release stated.

Monarch Coffee is located in the Kona District of Hawaii situated in the rural community of Holualoa.

“This famous, 20-mile stretch of land is the only place in the United States where authentic, gourmet 100% Kona coffee is grown and cultivated,” the release explained.

The family-friendly free coffee-tasting event will also feature storytelli­ng at 10 a.m.

“Bring the kids for activities like coloring and lei making,” the release added. “The whole month of May, Steady Eddy's is celebratin­g with food and drink `Taste of Islands' specials.”

The Woodland Street Cruisers will host its “Downtown Car Show and Cruise” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday along Main Street.

• Woodland will be hosting a “Water-Wise Landscape Tour” from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 20 at City Hall located at 300 First St.

“Come learn how various neighbors have filled their yards with beautiful California natives and other water-wise choices, including drought-tolerant plants such as succulents,” the event's press release stated.

A 30-minute presentati­on on the importance of pollinator­s in a water-wise garden will kick off the event followed by a plant sale and self-guided tour at 8:30 a.m.

“Pick up some water-wise plants sold by Woodland High School (cash and checks only) and explore beautiful, low-water landscapes on a self-guided tour in the surroundin­g neighborho­od,” the release emphasized.

• Wildhorse Golf Club will be holding its “Rocky Doms Memorial Golf Day” event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 19 at 2323 Rockwell Dr. in Davis.

“Join us for a fundraiser to benefit the National Alliance of Mental Illness Yolo County,” the event's website said.

Shotgun golf scramble will kick off the event at 8 a.m. and a lunch and silent auction will start at 1 p.m.

• North Valley Behavioral Health will be offering free haircuts from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Pine Tree Gardens Residentia­l Care located at 607 11th St. in Davis.

“Pine Tree Gardens is an adult residentia­l facility for Yolo County clients diagnosed with a serious mental illness,” the organizati­on's website explained. “It provides housing and services to 28 adults in two houses. Eligible residents can participat­e in adult day rehabilita­tion program services.”

North Valley Behavioral Health is the current operator of both houses and has the goal of improving “clients' ability to function in the community by educating them about their illness, teaching effective life management skills and helping them to gain selfawaren­ess.”

• The Woodland Toy-Anime-Comic Con returns Sunday, May 21 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles located at 37650 State Highway 16 in Woodland.

The 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. kids-friendly event encourages attendees to “dress to impress” for a cosplay contest at 2:30 p.m.

“Please see us at the admission table for the signup sheet,” the event's website emphasized. “All ages are welcome.”

Entrance is $8 at the door and cards and cash are accepted.
