ProspeROSA to hold several Spanish-speaking breast cancer workshops
Thriving Pink's ProspeROSA will be holding its first “cafecito” — Spanish for coffee — event at 11:30 a.m. this Saturday at City Park in Woodland for breast cancer survivors.
“This `cafecito' will be for Spanish-speaking thrivers and be a place where they can be supported and be given resources with a cafecito,” the nonprofit's press release stated. “If you know of anyone affected by breast cancer and would like to go please feel free to email us.”
The nonprofit will also host a Zoom workshop in Spanish on self-care for breast cancer “guerreras” — Spanish for warriors — at 5:30 p.m. on June 28.
Additionally, the nonprofit will virtually host Dr. Fejerman, “a leading doctor in genetics and breast cancer in the Latino community at UC Davis,” for a Spanish workshop at 5:30 p.m. on July 6.
“Thank you to everyone who is making ProspeRosa a place where we are all in this together,” the release added. “We feel incredibly grateful for each thriver, volunteer and family and friends. If you know of anyone who would love to give back to the community or those affected by breast cancer send them our way.”

ProspeROSA held its open house in early March with the goal of providing outreach and support to the Latino and Spanishspeaking breast cancer community.
“ProspeROSA aims to provide culturally appropriate education, mentoring and resources in Spanish,” Alicia Silva, ProspeROSA lead and board member, said during the open house. “We are excited to welcome our Latino community to the new office as their office and home base.”
The Thriving Pink Office and Community Room, which will now serve as the home to ProspeROSA, celebrated its official opening with a ribbon cutting in December.
The headquarters, located at 501 2nd St. in Davis, allows individuals to connect, build community, check out books and other resources in Spanish or English and participate in programs, according to Board of Directors Chair Joni Rubin.
