Johnnie ( John) Franklin Pike

Johnnie (John) Franklin Pike was born on December 27, 1937 in Monette, Arkansas to Argul and Ernestine Pike.

John graduated from Woodland High School in 1956 and enlisted in the United States Navy. During his 20 years in the Navy he performed many duties, including Aviation Electronic­s Technician and Flight Communicat­ions Operator. The Navy took John on many adventures around the world, including Japan, New Zealand, Antarctica and Guam.

While stationed in Japan, John met Eiko Katsube, the love of his life. They were married on October 1st, 1963 in Kobe, Japan.

In 1966, John and Eiko welcomed their son Johnnie while being stationed in Guam.

John retired from the Navy in 1976 and moved back to the Woodland area and worked for BJ Heating and Air as a Service Technician until his retirement in 1999.

After retirement John and Eiko enjoyed traveling and watching their grandchild­ren grow until Eiko’s untimely passing in 2005.

John later became a voluntary member of S.T.A.R.S, Sheriff’s Team of Active Retired Seniors, which he enjoyed for many years.

John is survived by his son, Johnnie and daughter-in-law, Shari, grandson Adam, wife Maggie, granddaugh­ter Allie and great grandchild­ren Quinn and Hayden, his sisters Marcella Williams and Mary Hamilton and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his bothers Robbie and George, his parents Argul and Ernestine and his wife Eiko.

There will be a private internment on Friday, May 26th at 1:00 pm at Monument Hill and celebratio­n of life from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Pike residence, 33622 County Road 24, Woodland.
