Bruce Dumars passed away in his Woodland residence on Monday, September 4th, 2023 at the age of 74. Born July 12th 1949, Mr. Dumars was a native of Woodland and lifelong community member of Yolo County. He was the son of Theo and Frances (Nelson) Dumars and a 1967 graduate of Woodland High School. A graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in Ornamental Horticultu­re, Bruce returned to Woodland to start the landscape design firm, Dumars, Inc. which operated for five decades serving the greater Yolo County area in landscape design, supply and maintenanc­e operations. His love of nature and the outdoors was solidified at an early age with ample time at the family farm, Harlan & Dumars, Inc. as well as time at the family’s Tahoe cabin. An avid lover of music and an accomplish­ed drummer, Bruce performed in several local and regional bands during the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. In addition to his musical talent, Bruce was a water-skiing legend on the Sacramento River and Lake Tahoe, enjoying the wake of classic mahogany boats on his beloved Maherajah flat-bottomed ski. Survived by his spouse of 54 years, Sandra L. (Cooper) Dumars and sons Jason (Christina), Matthew and Dustin (Jonell) as well as 7 grandchild­ren and 1 great grandchild. Preceded in death by parents, Theo Dumars, Frances (Nelson) Dumars, brother Lee Dumars and sister Arlene (Dumars) Callaghan. Celebratio­n of life will be held at the Heidrick Ag History Museum on November 4th from 1-4pm. Hawaiian shirts and attire are encouraged. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Woodland Healthcare Foundation.
