Sr. Margaret Taylor, SC (Sr. Edwin Regina), former principal at St. Mary of the Snow, Saugerties, died at the Convent of Mary the Queen, Yonkers, on Feb. 4, 2015.

Born on May 12, 1931, in Mt. Vernon, she was the daughter of Edward and Bridget Griffin Taylor and attended schools in Rye and New Rochelle before entering the Sisters of Charity of New York on Sept. 8, 1950.

She received a B.A. in Latin from the College of Mt. St. Vincent and a MED in Reading from Boston College and later earned N.Y.S. Permanent Certificat­ion in Administra­tion and Supervisio­n.

Sister Margaret ministered at Holy Name and Immaculate Conception, Manhattan; St. John the Evangelist, White Plains; Immaculate Heart of Mary, Scarsdale; St. Mary of the Snow, Saugerties from 1969 until 1996, and at St. Dennis and Sacred Heart, Yonkers.

She is survived by her sister, Edith Labella, and her brother, William Taylor; nieces and nephews; grandniece­s and grandnephe­ws; and the Sisters of Charity, with whom she shared life for 64 years.

Friends will be received Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., with a vigil service at 4:15 p.m., and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, 10:30 a.m., both at the Convent of Mary the Queen, 35 Vark St., Yonkers, N.Y. 10701.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Yonkers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sister Margaret’s name to the Sisters of Charity of New York, c/o the Convent of Mary the Queen.
