New Paltz High’s boys basketball team put a big push together in the third quarter, but it wasn’t enough to catch Roosevelt, as the Presidents won 60-48in Mid-Hudson Athletic League action Friday.

New Paltz High’s boys basketball team put a big push together in the third quarter, but it wasn’t enough to catch Roosevelt, as the Presidents won 60-48 in Mid-Hudson Athletic League action Friday.

Ishmael Chisholm’s 23 points led the Presidents. Chisholm hit five threepoint shots and was a perfect 4 for 4 from the line. Five other players scored at least five points for Roosevelt, which knocked down eight three-point baskets. After letting up 18 points to New Paltz in the third quarter the Presidents defense held the Huguenots to only eight points in the final quarter.

The Huguenots had three players score in double digits, but didn’t get much else from the offense. C.J. Burke led New Paltz with 15 points, Matt Kanan added 14, and Grant Harlow knocked in 10. At Boiceville, Onteora turned it up in the second half scoring 46 of their 67 points en route to a MHAL win over Webutuck.

Jameson Morton had a huge fourth quarter, scoring 18 of his game-high 31 points. Dwayne Henry also had a big day, scoring 17 points for the Indians.

Tomas Espinosa-Lopez led Webutuck with 18 points, while Hunter Coulthard had 13. At Kyserike, the Raiders improved to 13-1 in the win over the Ganders.

Nick Michitsch had 13 points, Dennis Hare had 11 points and six rebounds and Bo Smith had eight points and four steals for Red Hook.

At Saugerties, after being tied at 13 at the end of the first quarter, Saugerties pulled away and piled on Poughkeeps­ie, thanks in part to a 23-point day from Darnell Edge.

Edge had three threepoint­ers, as did Shawn Jansen, who added 16 points for the Sawyers. Curtis Jorgensen had 10 points, including two more three-point baskets.

Matt Deloatch led Poughkeeps­ie with 12 points.
