Phyllis Kastner, 94, of the town of Ulster
Phyllis Kastner, 94, of Lawrenceville Street, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at The Pines Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Catskill.
Born July 6, 1920, in Kingston, she is the daughter of the late Robert and Marion (Cain) Hogan.
Phyllis was employed in the Communication Division at IBM in Poughkeepsie and Kingston until her retirement in 1982. She was a longtime volunteer at Kingston Hospital, a former member of the Clinton Avenue United Methodist Church, and a former resident of Sarasota, Fla. While residing in Florida, she was a fan of the Atlanta Braves. When she returned to New York, she became a New York Yankees fan.
Surviving are her daughter, Linda (Glass) and her husband Eric Steinmiller of Kingston; sisters, Helen Potter and Marion Mitchell and her husband Jean, both of Kingston; daughter-in-law, Karen Buchanan of Al-ligerville; grandchildren, Lisa Glass and her husband Patrick, Lori Valdes, Lainie Wolven (Gueneviere), Lynn Hamilton, Jodie Meyer, Robert Buchanan and his wife Casey. Phyllis is survived by many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was the wife of the late Frederick Buchanan. A son, Robert Buchanan, and two brothers, Robert and Ronald Hogan, also died previously.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. A service will take place at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Darlene Kelly officiating.
