‘Multiple-vehicle’ fire in hiking trail parking area

Several vehicles were damaged by fire Saturday afternoon in the parking lot for the Overlook Mountain hiking trail.

Firefighters initially were called to what was described as smoke coming from a single vehicle, but several later dispatches referred to the incident as a “multiple-vehicle fire” in the lot at 334 Meads Mountain Road. One dispatcher said as many as four or five vehicles were affected.

Part of Meads Mountain Road was closed to traffic by fire police because of the incident.

There was no immediate word about the cause of the fire or whether there were any injuries.

The parking lot is near the Karma Triyana Dharmachakra monastery.
