Clinic offers tips on managing livestock
A two-day, hands-on livestock clinic will be held on Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County, 232 Plaza Road, Kingston, followed by a farm visit Sept. 25 from noon to 2 p.m. at Moveable Beast Farm in Accord.
The instructors, local Extension Educators Mick Bessire and Jason Detzel, will teach practical skills to implement a rotational grazing plan that can reduce feed costs, improve pastures, decrease farm labor and produce healthier animals. Instructors will review the advantages of rotational vs. continuous grazing, calving and breeding considerations, water/forage management, and more.
The fee is $20 per person or $10 for Ag Program enrollees, which covers both days of the clinic. For information or to register, visit http://tinyurl. com/Rotational-GrazingClinic, call Carrie at (845) 340-3990 ext. 311 or email cad266@cornell.edu.
