Unitarian church hosts meeting on pipelines

-

A meeting for people interested in stopping the Pilgrim Pipelines project will be held Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Catskills, 320 Sawkill Road, which is on the path of the proposed pipelines.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will begin 15 minutes later. The meeting is sponsored by the Coalition Against Pilgrim Pipelines-New York and will be led by Matt Smith.

The proposed two-line system, built along 103.5 miles of the state Thruway’s right-of-way and on another 25 miles of private property in New York state, would use one pipeline to take 200,000 gallons of Bakken crude oil from Albany to Linden, New Jersey, and use the other pipeline to send refined materials north.

To attend, email Sue Rosenberg at rosenberg. sue@gmail.com or call (845) 246-3449 or (914) 4660954. Attendees are asked to bring food to share.
