Fire engine show wows young and old
An early morning fire caused considerable damage to a house, according to the Arlington Fire District.
An early morning fire at 46 Vero Drive caused considerable damage to a single-family house, according to the Arlington Fire District.
The fire was reported at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday, with Arlington firefighters responding, according to authorities, who said the blaze began on the front porch, but extended into the main living areas.
Occupants were home at the time, but were able to escape unharmed before firefighters arrived. One firefighter suffered minor injuries and was treated at Vassar Brothers Medical Center and released, the fire district said.
Three residents were displaced and received assistance from the Red Cross. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental and involved electrical distribution equipment, authorities said.
Assisting at the scene of the two-alarm fire were firefighters from the City of Poughkeepsie and LaGrange.
Also at the scene were the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response, Town of Poughkeepsie Police, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, the Red Cross and Central Hudson.
Pleasant Valley and New Hamburg fire departments relocated equipment to cover Arlington stations.
Firefighters were on the scene for five hours.
