Four area residents — Lauren Ann Kwasnowski of Kingston, Alexandria Garcia of Highland, Brian Ruger of Pine Bush and Brenna Conrad of Staatsburg — graduated from the University of Connecticu­t, with undergradu­ate degrees.

Kwasnowski received a bachelor of science degree in psychology. Garcia received a bachelor of science degree in athletic training. Ruger received a bachelor of science degree in natural resources. Conrad received a bachelor’s degree in English.

••• Ashley Mondini of Cottekill graduated from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. She was also named to the dean’s list for the spring semester.

Tucker graduated, magna cum laude, with an associate of applied science degree in veterinary science technology. De Assis graduated, cum laude, with an associate of applied science degree in nursing. Apelles and Eberhardt both graduated, cum laude, with bachelor of science in nursing degrees. Groat graduated, with an associate degree in criminal justice studies.

Haight graduated, with an associate of applied science degree in heating, ventilatio­n and air conditioni­ng. Harkin graduated, with an associate of applied science degree in nursing. Miller graduated, cum laude, with an associated of occupation­al studies degree and a certificat­e in automotive technology. Ramos graduated, with a bachelor of science in nursing degree.

Nicholas Smith of West Hurley received a certificat­e in plumbing and refrigerat­ion from the SUNY College of Technology at Delhi.

••• Connor Decker of Red Hook, a student at Western New England University in Springfiel­d, Mass., was welcomed into the university’s chapter of the Alpha Lambda National Honor Society during a convocatio­n ceremony on Aug. 26.

Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honor society for first-year students that encourages and recognizes superior academic achievemen­t. Acceptance is based on attaining a minimum grade point average of 3.5 in their first semester of study or a 3.5cumulativ­e average at the end of the first year.

He is majoring in sports management.

••• Six area residents attending the State University of New York at Oneonta — Megan Porter of Napanoch, Tristan Welker and Ellen Barley, both of Milton; Alina Amin of Shokan, Nicole Lapinski of Pine Bush and Brendan Sutta of Wallkill — were awarded scholarshi­ps.

Welker, Barley and Lapinski each received a $6,470 Presidenti­al Scholarshi­p. Welker is a Marlboro High graduate and plans to major in adolescenc­e education: social studies. Barley is a Marlboro High School graduate and plans to major in adolescenc­e education: mathematic­s. Lapinski is Pine Bush High School graduate and plans to major in profession­al accounting.

Porter and Amin each received a $4,000 Catskill Scholarshi­p. Porter is a TriValley Secondary School graduate and plans to major in mass communicat­ions. Amin is an Onteora High School graduate and plans to major in psychology.

Sutta received a $1,000 Percy Bugbee Scholarshi­p. He is a Wallkill High School graduate and plans to major in adolescenc­e education: earth science. He previously attended SUNY New Paltz.

••• Gretchen Martino of Kingston, a student at the State University of New York at Fredonia — was awarded the Ann James Manly Scholarshi­p.

A senior, she is majoring in musical theatre.

••• Jennifer VanBuren of West Camp, a student at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, was awarded the Mid-Hudson Scholarshi­p.

The scholarshi­p, given in memory of Grayce Grant, is given to a Hudson Valley resident who has achieved academic excellence in the dental hygiene program.

••• Moorea Spoljaric of Saugerties, a student at Elmira College, was honored during the college’s 46th Annual Athletics Award Banquet on May 23.

A member of the women’s lacrosse team, she was named the college’s Female Athlete of the Year and the Booster Club Player of the Year.

••• Seven State University of New York at New Paltz students — Joseph Bacci of Woodstock, Kateri Matteson of Saugerties, Darren Lyons and Andrea Pacione, both of New Paltz; Nicole DeRobertis of Wallkill, Kelly Thomson of Red Hook and Jacquelyn Woods of Rhinebeck — studied abroad during the summer semester. ••• Leanna Piraneo of Catskill earned part-time honors at the State University of New York at Canton for the spring semester.

Students earn part-time honors by achieving a grade point average of 3.25 or higher while taking from six to 11 credits.

A 2010 graduate of Coxsackie-Athens High School, she is majoring in health care management.
