Rondout Valley stays undefeated with victory

Makaylah Mutz’s overtime blast off a penalty corner lifted undefeated Rondout Valley High to a 2-1 double-overtime non-league victory over Taconic Hills. The Ganders upped their record to 6-0.

Branch Cranfield and Brennan O’Connell each shot medalist 42s Friday, leading Rondout Valley High to its seventh MidHudson Athletic League victory in eight matches, a 178-245 decision over Highland. Zach Murphy had a 46 and Luciano Catalfomo had a 50 on the front nine at Rondout Golf Club to help lead the Ganders.

At Highland, Will Conti shot a 2-over 35 at Apple Greens to lead (6-2) Marlboro. Conner Corrado had a 41, Charles Benfer added a 43 and Justin Boehlke shot a 45 for the Dukes.

Mike Gottstein had a 41, Nick Puleo 43, Corey Burke 44 and Jaxson Kobel Sechty added a 45 to pace (5-3) New Paltz. Saugerties 214, Poughkeepsie 182

At Poughkeepsie, Kieran Defino carded a 46, Jack Smythe had a 49, Annie Armstrong 58 and Jack Armstrong 61 to lead (6-3) Saugerties at McCann Golf Course.

Cullen O’Shea had a medalist 45 to pace Poughkeepsie. Kevaughn Jayle (68), Jake McCormack (79) and Robert Williams-Diggs (90) rounded out Poughkeepsie’s quartet.
