Fall Health Fair at hospi­tal on Oct. 7

Ex­hibitors of­fer­ing pre­ven­tive health­care, med­i­cal screen­ings and ed­u­ca­tion on a va­ri­ety of health, well­ness and life­style im­prove­ments will par­tic­i­pate in Margaretville Hospi­tal’s Fall Health Fair from 7 to 11 a.m. Oct. 7 at the hospi­tal, 42084 state Route 28.

At­ten­dees can re­ceive flu shots with no ap­point­ment. Medi­care in­sur­ance will cover the cost of the flu shots for at­ten­dees en­rolled in Medi­care. For those with no in­sur­ance, the charge will be $31.

The fair will also pro­vide free screen­ings. Screen­ings will in­clude bal­ance as­sess­ments to help as­sess fall risks, blood pres­sure screen­ings, bone den­sity tests to check for pos­si­ble os­teo­poro­sis, choles­terol screening (this test re­quires 10 to 12 hours of fast­ing be­fore­hand — no food or drink ex­cept for wa­ter), pulse oxime­try to de­tect blood oxy­gen lev­els, and pul­monary func­tion test­ing to see how well your lungs take in and ex­hale air.
