He­len Lowney, 84, of Red Hook

RED HOOK >> He­len Lowney, 84, of Red Hook, passed away on Sun­day, Sept. 25, 2016, at home, with her fam­ily by her side.

Born on Nov. 18, 1931, in Ridge­field, Conn., she was the daugh­ter of the late James and Stella (Lynch) Venus. He­len mar­ried James Lowney on April 7, 1956, at St. Mary’s Church in Ka­tonah, N.Y. He pre­de­ceased her on Nov. 10, 1986.

For over 20 years, He­len was em­ployed by Fern­cliff Nurs­ing Home as a statis­ti­cian.

An ac­tive com­mu­ni­cant of St. Christo­pher’s Church in Red Hook, she also was a past mem­ber of their Al­tar Rosary So­ci­ety. She also vol­un­teered to count the weekly col­lec­tions and was the trea­surer for the St. Christo­pher’s Se­niors.

He­len was also ac­tive in her com­mu­nity as a mem­ber of the Red Hook Se­niors and the South­ern Tier Se­niors. She vol­un­teered for Meals on Wheels and at North­ern Dutchess Care­givers.

She en­joyed golf­ing and trav­el­ing, but noth­ing brought her more joy than spend­ing time with her fam­ily — es­pe­cially her grand­chil­dren.

She is sur­vived by her lov­ing fam­ily, in­clud­ing her chil­dren, James (Michelle) Lowney of Red Hook, Cather­ine (Frank) Vos­burgh of Red Hook, Pa­tri­cia (David) Wright of Red Hook, Theresa (Robert) Dar­ling of Kingston, and San­dra (Michael) Eisele of Haup­pauge, N.Y.; a sis­ter, Winifred Ol­szewski of Bran­ford, Conn.; her grand­chil­dren, Frank (Jen), Steven (Heather) and Lisa Vos­burgh, El­iz­a­beth and Kait­lyn Lowney, Amanda, David and Kyle Wright, Max and Danielle Dar­ling, Erica, Lu­cas and Kristin Eisele; her great­grand­chil­dren, Madi­son, Ryan, Bryce, and Brody Vos­burgh; along with nieces, neph­ews, and ex­tended fam­ily.

In ad­di­tion to her hus­band, she was pre­de­ceased by her brother, James Venus.

Friends may call at Bur­nett & White Fu­neral Homes on Thurs­day, Sept. 29, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m.

A Mass of Chris­tian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Fri­day, Sept. 30, 2016, at St. Christo­pher’s Church in Red Hook. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Ceme­tery, Red Hook.
