Greene County Historical Society presents author talk
WHAT: Book presentation WHEN: Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. WHERE: Reading Room of the Greene County Historical Society’s Vedder Research Library on the grounds of the Bronck Museum, 90 county Route 42, Coxsackie DETAILS: Shirley Dunn, noted regional historian, will present her newly published book, “Fort Crailo and the Van Rensselaers.” As the first Dutch farms take root east of the Hudson River across from Fort Orange (Albany), a fortified farmhouse was built by the Van Rensselaers to protect their interests and provide a haven for settlers. Originally surrounded by a tall wooden palisade, Fort Crailo survived King Philip’s War, the French and Indian wars, and the Revolution. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase after the presentation. The program is free and open to the public.
