WHAT: Book presentati­on WHEN: Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. WHERE: Reading Room of the Greene County Historical Society’s Vedder Research Library on the grounds of the Bronck Museum, 90 county Route 42, Coxsackie DETAILS: Shirley Dunn, noted regional historian, will present her newly published book, “Fort Crailo and the Van Rensselaer­s.” As the first Dutch farms take root east of the Hudson River across from Fort Orange (Albany), a fortified farmhouse was built by the Van Rensselaer­s to protect their interests and provide a haven for settlers. Originally surrounded by a tall wooden palisade, Fort Crailo survived King Philip’s War, the French and Indian wars, and the Revolution. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase after the presentati­on. The program is free and open to the public.
