Roosevelt earns 4th consecutiv­e shutout

Roosevelt High recorded its fourth straight shutout in boys soccer, blanking Highland 7-0 in a Mid-Hudson Athletic League match. Ethan Hart scored four goals for the Presidents.

Roosevelt High recorded its fourth straight shutout in boys soccer, blanking Highland 7-0 in a Mid-Hudson Athletic League match.

Ethan Hart scored four goals and Brandon Gracias converted a penalty kick and one assist to lead the Presidents. Enrique Lavariega and Dan DiCarlo also scored for Roosevelt, while Christian Santiago, Markese Shelby, Edgar Garcia, Myles Manning and Bethuel Yebouet all dished out assists.

Ryan Diehl made two saves in goal to post the shutout.

“Again, our defense allowed little to no opportunit­ies for the opposing attack,” Roosevelt coach Dan Hoffay said. “Ethan Hart, Brandon Gracias and our attack made life tough for Highland all game long.” Rhinebeck 2, Onteora 0

At Rhinebeck, Quinn Graziano scored in each half to lead the (8-1-1) Hawks. Francisco Marnell and Finn Ashworth assisted.

Goalkeeper Ethan Viator had a pair of saves for the shutout. Jordan Mead made one save for Onteora. Wallkill 1, New Paltz 0

At New Paltz, Ryan Castle scored 17 minutes into the second half for (8-3) Wallkill’s game-winner.

Justin Dunikowski had four saves for the Panthers, while Dan Drewnowski stopped five shots for (4-41) New Paltz. Saugerties 2, Marlboro 0

At Marlboro, Sam Bagshaw scored in each half to help lift (6-4) Saugerties.

Seth Vanderbeck made six saves for the Sawyers, while Jawad Haidaoui kept the match close for (1-8-2) Marlboro by making 13. Spackenkil­l 7, Pine Plains 2

At Poughkeeps­ie, Giancarlo Porco had two goals and two assists, Jake Kaufman scored twice, Travis Klipp added a goal and one assist, Kalen McGinley and Andrew Moreira also tallied, and Nick Genco, Joey Guerriero and Robby Waxman each had one assist to lead (9-0 MHAL, 9-1 overall) Spackenkil­l.

Lion Vega had both goals for Pine Plains.

Quinn McGinnis had a pair of saves for the Spartans, while Pine Plains keeper Omar Santiago was kept busy, stopping 14 of 22 shots.

“We had moments of brilliance and other moments not so much,” Spackenkil­l coach Manny Blanco said. “We have to work on playing a complete game.” Dover 4, Ellenville 2

At Dover, Xavier Mendez scored a pair of goals for the Dragons.

Jamal Williams and Wyatt McIntyre scored goals for Dover. Matt Cropley had two assists. Kenny Joseph added an assist, while Anthony Derosa made 12 saves in the win.

Rylie Lake and Lucas Berger scored goals, while Wes Cruz and Justin Giuliano had assists for the (54, 6-4) Devils. Daniel Mahany, meanwhile, stopped eight shots in the loss.
