Virginia Bergin, 86, of Meisner Avenue, formerly of Latham Circle in Saugerties, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at the Eger Nursing Home.

Born June 12, 1930, in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth Johnson Miller.

Ginger married Joseph Bergin on Nov. 21, 1948, and they lived in Greenlawn, New York, where they started their family. They moved to Saugerties in 1971. She was employed by Saugerties Carpet, then started her own daycare center called “The Gingerbrea­d House,” where she so dearly loved the children she took care of.

She was also employed by the Saugerties Central Schools in Mount Marion as a lunchroom monitor. Ginger was an avid New York Yankees fan and a passionate Buffalo Bills fan, but nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family.

She was predecease­d by her husband, Joseph. Survivors include two daughters, Susan and her husband Michael Ajello of Staten Island, and Ruthann and her husband Vincent Buono of Saugerties; two sons, Joseph Bergin and his wife Chris of North Carolina and John Bergin of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and seven grandchild­ren, Lori, Chrissy, Anthony, Joseph, Jacqueline, Sophia and Vincent. Seven greatgrand­children and several nieces and nephews also survive.Her funeral procession will form at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette streets, Saugerties; thence to St. Mary of the Snow R.C. Church, where at 10 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
