Vir­ginia Ber­gin, 86, of Meis­ner Av­enue, for­merly of Latham Cir­cle in Sauger­ties, died Thurs­day, Sept. 29, 2016, at the Eger Nurs­ing Home.

Born June 12, 1930, in Man­hat­tan, she was the daugh­ter of the late John and Ruth John­son Miller.

Gin­ger mar­ried Joseph Ber­gin on Nov. 21, 1948, and they lived in Green­lawn, New York, where they started their fam­ily. They moved to Sauger­ties in 1971. She was em­ployed by Sauger­ties Car­pet, then started her own day­care cen­ter called “The Ginger­bread House,” where she so dearly loved the chil­dren she took care of.

She was also em­ployed by the Sauger­ties Cen­tral Schools in Mount Mar­ion as a lunch­room mon­i­tor. Gin­ger was an avid New York Yan­kees fan and a pas­sion­ate Buf­falo Bills fan, but noth­ing brought her more joy than spend­ing time with her fam­ily.

She was pre­de­ceased by her hus­band, Joseph. Sur­vivors in­clude two daugh­ters, Su­san and her hus­band Michael Ajello of Staten Is­land, and Ruthann and her hus­band Vin­cent Buono of Sauger­ties; two sons, Joseph Ber­gin and his wife Chris of North Carolina and John Ber­gin of Brook­lyn, N.Y.; and seven grand­chil­dren, Lori, Chrissy, An­thony, Joseph, Jac­que­line, Sophia and Vin­cent. Seven great­grand­chil­dren and sev­eral nieces and neph­ews also sur­vive.Her fu­neral pro­ces­sion will form at 9:15 a.m. Tues­day at Sea­mon-Wilsey Fu­neral Home Inc., cor­ner of John and Lafayette streets, Sauger­ties; thence to St. Mary of the Snow R.C. Church, where at 10 a.m., a Mass of Chris­tian Burial will be of­fered. In­ter­ment will fol­low in St. Mary’s Ceme­tery.

Friends will be re­ceived Mon­day from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Ex­pres­sions of con­do­lence may be shared with the fam­ily at Sea­monWilseyFuner­
