Zach Burns, 17, a se­nior at Kingston High School, stands with a plaque he re­ceived from the US Army for be­ing se­lected to march with the Army’s All-Amer­i­can March­ing Band. With him are Army Sgts. Joe Luke, left, and Ti­mothy Bel­lanca. Burns is one of 101 stu­dents who will play in the band in San An­to­nio, Texas, ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease. The event will take place on Jan. 7 at the Alam­od­ome as part of the U.S. Army All-Amer­i­can Bowl, fea­tur­ing 90 of the na­tion’s best high school foot­ball play­ers in an East-West match-up. The game will be tele­vised on NBC. Burns is the first Kingston High stu­dent to be se­lected for this honor — which in­cludes an all ex­penses paid trip — af­ter com­pet­ing against more than 2,000 nominees from 47 states. Only 125 stu­dents were se­lected. The Na­tional As­so­ci­a­tion for Mu­sic Ed­u­ca­tion made the fi­nal se­lec­tion of band mem­bers.
