IN THE ARMY BAND NOW

-

Zach Burns, 17, a senior at Kingston High School, stands with a plaque he received from the US Army for being selected to march with the Army’s All-American Marching Band. With him are Army Sgts. Joe Luke, left, and Timothy Bellanca. Burns is one of 101 students who will play in the band in San Antonio, Texas, according to a press release. The event will take place on Jan. 7 at the Alamodome as part of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, featuring 90 of the nation’s best high school football players in an East-West match-up. The game will be televised on NBC. Burns is the first Kingston High student to be selected for this honor — which includes an all expenses paid trip — after competing against more than 2,000 nominees from 47 states. Only 125 students were selected. The National Association for Music Education made the final selection of band members.
