John Tillson, 63, of Tillson Drive, passed away on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, with his loving family and friends by his side. He was born Nov. 2, 1952, to William and Sarah Tillson and was a lifelong area resident.

He is survived by his loving wife Susan; stepchildr­en, Christophe­r Decker (Theresa) and Lisa Larkin (Douglas); sisters, Sharon Vavolizza (Manny) and Sara Decker (Danny); grandchild­ren, Emily, Alexander and Madison; nephews, David Stokes (Heather), Shaun Stokes (Tanya), Tonya Stokes, Devin Decker; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and great-nieces and nephews.

John loved horses, fishing, entertaini­ng, snowmobili­ng, chess, growing apples, music, fireworks, gambling, fairs, and working in the orchard on his excavator and tractors. He was a graduate of Rondout Valley High School and had an Associates Degree from Ulster County Community College. John was an accomplish­ed artist and builder. He owned Tillson Constructi­on for over 40 years and could fix anything. He was an inspiratio­n in how to live life to the fullest. We will miss him dearly.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale, N.Y., starting at 2 p.m. with services at 7 p.m. Rev. James Hallenbeck will officiate the funeral service.

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate his life at Mary McNamara’s, 3050 Route 209, Stone Ridge on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, from 1 to 4 p.m.
