Mount Academy shuts out Coleman Catholic
Thomas Huleatt scored five goals, as Mount Academy cruised to an 8-0 non-league boys soccer victory over John A. Coleman Catholic.
Tim Cavanna and Stephen Decker had a goal and an assist each. Seth Thompson scored a goal, while Matt Rimes contributed an assist in the win.
Dean Blough had two saves for (7-5) Mount Academy, while Daniel Shults stopped four shots for (97) Coleman. Ellenville 3, Highland 0
At Ellenville, the Blue Devils clinched a berth in the Section 9 Tournament with the non-league win.
After 19 scoreless minutes, Rylie Lake, off a Wes Cruz assist, to put Ellenville on the board.
Jose Cruz, struck next on a Wes Cruz assist in the 45th minute before Daniel Parada converted a Lake assist in the 62nd minute to round the scoring.
“Highland made me nervous on a few occasions, especially when it was only 1-0, but we scored early into the second half then added a third midway through,” Ellenville Coach Maxwell Mead said. “It wasn’t our best performance but it was a very mature performance where we played a little tighter in the back and tried to secure a clean sheet.”
The (8-6) Devils held a 20-6 edge on shots on goals.
Daniel Mahany had four saves in the win, while Dylan Warren stopped nine shots in the loss for the Huskies.
