Mount Academy shuts out Cole­man Catholic

Thomas Huleatt scored five goals, as Mount Academy cruised to an 8-0 non-league boys soc­cer vic­tory over John A. Cole­man Catholic.

Tim Ca­vanna and Stephen Decker had a goal and an as­sist each. Seth Thomp­son scored a goal, while Matt Rimes con­trib­uted an as­sist in the win.

Dean Blough had two saves for (7-5) Mount Academy, while Daniel Shults stopped four shots for (97) Cole­man. El­lenville 3, High­land 0

At El­lenville, the Blue Devils clinched a berth in the Sec­tion 9 Tour­na­ment with the non-league win.

Af­ter 19 score­less min­utes, Rylie Lake, off a Wes Cruz as­sist, to put El­lenville on the board.

Jose Cruz, struck next on a Wes Cruz as­sist in the 45th minute be­fore Daniel Parada con­verted a Lake as­sist in the 62nd minute to round the scor­ing.

“High­land made me ner­vous on a few oc­ca­sions, es­pe­cially when it was only 1-0, but we scored early into the sec­ond half then added a third mid­way through,” El­lenville Coach Maxwell Mead said. “It wasn’t our best per­for­mance but it was a very ma­ture per­for­mance where we played a lit­tle tighter in the back and tried to se­cure a clean sheet.”

The (8-6) Devils held a 20-6 edge on shots on goals.

Daniel Ma­hany had four saves in the win, while Dy­lan War­ren stopped nine shots in the loss for the Huskies.
