Michael Zach­ery Brandt Weeks, 33, of Con­cord, N.C.

Michael Zach­ery Brandt Weeks, 33 years old, passed away at his home in Con­cord on Wed­nes­day, April 27, 2016.

Michael was born in Kingston, N.Y. on March 3, 1983.

He moved to North Carolina when he was 13 years old. His mother is re­turn­ing his body to New York to be buried near his grand­par­ents, Charles and Mary Weeks, at Wood­stock Ceme­tery.

Friends will be re­ceived Wed­nes­day 10 a.m. un­til noon at Lasher Fu­neral Home, Inc., 100 Tin­ker St., fol­lowed by a grave­side ser­vice at Wood­stock Ceme­tery.

Michael at­tended col­lege in N.C., where he was on the Chan­cel­lor’s List and grad­u­ated Phi Theta Kappa for his high aca­demics. He is known for his ge­o­log­i­cal ex­per­tise. He col­lected and cat­e­go­rized hun­dreds of North and South Carolina min­eral spec­i­mens, some of which were do­nated by him to the Grand­fa­ther Moun­tain Mu­seum and are be­ing used by the mu­seum in their teach­ing pro­grams.

Michael also en­joyed gar­den­ing and land­scap­ing and grew hun­dreds of va­ri­eties of iris and daylilies.

Michael had been sick since child­hood, with Crohn’s Dis­ease and sev­eral other dev­as­tat­ing ill­nesses, which fi­nally took their toll. Michael had a kind soul and en­joyed help­ing oth­ers. He can never be re­placed. His kind­ness and in­tegrity were amaz­ing.

Michael is sur­vived by his mother, Sandra Weeks of Con­cord, N.C.
