Michael Zachery Brandt Weeks, 33, of Concord, N.C.
Michael Zachery Brandt Weeks, 33 years old, passed away at his home in Concord on Wednesday, April 27, 2016.
Michael was born in Kingston, N.Y. on March 3, 1983.
He moved to North Carolina when he was 13 years old. His mother is returning his body to New York to be buried near his grandparents, Charles and Mary Weeks, at Woodstock Cemetery.
Friends will be received Wednesday 10 a.m. until noon at Lasher Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Tinker St., followed by a graveside service at Woodstock Cemetery.
Michael attended college in N.C., where he was on the Chancellor’s List and graduated Phi Theta Kappa for his high academics. He is known for his geological expertise. He collected and categorized hundreds of North and South Carolina mineral specimens, some of which were donated by him to the Grandfather Mountain Museum and are being used by the museum in their teaching programs.
Michael also enjoyed gardening and landscaping and grew hundreds of varieties of iris and daylilies.
Michael had been sick since childhood, with Crohn’s Disease and several other devastating illnesses, which finally took their toll. Michael had a kind soul and enjoyed helping others. He can never be replaced. His kindness and integrity were amazing.
Michael is survived by his mother, Sandra Weeks of Concord, N.C.
