Dou­glas Stathagi Di­a­mond, 77, of Red Hook

Dou­glas Stathagi Di­a­mond, age 77 of Red Hook, New York died on Oct. 12, 2016, at the Thompson House in Rhinebeck.

He was born on Feb. 26, 1939, in Marl­boro, Mass., to Chris­tos Eph­stas­tathios Di­a­mond and Olga Kote Di­a­mond.

He earned a B.A. from, Suf­folk Uni­ver­sity and a M.A. from Bridge­port Uni­ver­sity.

Doug served in the US Army Re­serves as a Medic from 1964 to 1970.

He mar­ried Jane Kurschner his wife of 51 years, who sur­vives him, on Aug. 8, 1965.

Doug loved all sports. In high school he was a lo­cal celebrity for his skills at pool and bil­liards. He cad­died at the Marl­boro County Club and be­gan his life­long love of golf.

There will be no ser­vices at this time. A cel­e­bra­tion of his life will be held in the spring.

Do­na­tions in his mem­ory may be made to the Thompson House where the staff took him to their hearts and made his pass­ing as peaceful as is hu­manly pos­si­ble.
