Opi­oid cri­sis fo­rum moved to high school

The lo­ca­tion of a fo­rum Wed­nes­day on the lo­cal heroin and opi­oid cri­sis has been changed to El­lenville High School.

The event, spon­sored by the Ul­ster County In­ter­a­gency Task Force on Sub­stance Abuse Pre­ven­tion, is in­tended to raise aware­ness and seek so­lu­tions.

The event, fea­tur­ing lo­cal ser­vice re­sources and ser­vice providers, is sched­uled for 5:30 p.m., with speak­ers be­gin­ning at 6 p.m. Child­care will be avail­able.

Par­tic­i­pants will be in­tro­duced to the re­al­i­ties of the epi­demic and be pro­vided with tools nec­es­sary to help pre­vent abuse, rec­og­nize its signs, un­der­stand the health and le­gal con­se­quences, get help, and find sup­port to cope with an abuse prob­lem or the loss of a loved one. Ex­perts from Ul­ster and Sul­li­van coun­ties rep­re­sent­ing the med­i­cal field, law en­force­ment, re­cov­ery cen­ters and hu­man ser­vices or­ga­ni­za­tions and agen­cies will an­swer ques­tions.
