• Menacing: David B. Pruiksma, 29, of Halfmoon, was arrested by state police at Catskill at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Stewart’s Shop at 52 N. Washington St., Athens, and was charged with menacing a police officer and robbery with the use of a dangerous instrument, both felonies, and with resisting arrest, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use, all misdemeano­rs. Pruiksma allegedly stole an alcoholic beverage from the shop and was followed out by an employee. As the employee confronted him, police said, a state trooper from the Catskill barracks arrived at the scene and Pruiksma brandished a knife and attempted to flee. Two passersby assisted the trooper in taking Pruiksma into custody. Pruiksma, who police said was found in possession of a second knife and a small amount of concentrat­ed marijuana, was sent to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail pending a court appearance.
