• Assault/obstructing governmental administration: Joanne M. Ortiz, 32, of Ellenville, was arrested by Ulster County sheriff’s deputies at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday at a residence in Ellenville and was charged with assault and obstructing governmental administration, both misdemeanors. Deputies at the scene said Ortiz struck and bit the victim, causing an injury. When she was arrested, Ortiz became combative and refused to walk to the patrol vehicle, deputies said. Ortiz was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail pending a court appearance.
