Kingston High’s Robey wins at association meet
Senior takes first place in 100-yard backstroke as Tigers come in fifth
Kingston High’s Taylor Robey was a first-place finisher at the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association meet.
Kingston High senior Taylor Robey won the 100-yard freestyle championship Saturday at the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association meet at Valley Central.
Robey held off Monroe-Woodbury sophomore Mackenzie Tuttle for the title, beating her by 14-hundreths of a second with a winning time of 54.62 seconds. She slashed seven-tenths of a second to earn the honors.
Robey later placed fourth in the backstroke with a 1:03.29. She chopped 1.67 seconds off her seed time which moved her up two places.
She swam the anchor leg on a Tigers’ 400-free relay with Isabella Amaro, Emily Hakim and Helen Wunderlich that took third (3:49.61) and did the opening leg on the 200-free relay with a 200-free relay that included Wunderlich, Hakim and Alexandra Mitchell. They were fifth in 1:45.72.
Kingston finished fifth overall out of 18 schools with 197 points.
