Thomas Francis Gotimer, 92, of Phoenicia, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at the Golden Hill Nursing Home after a brief stay. He was born November 9, 1923, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, son of the late George and Marion McGinnis Gotimer. He was a graduate of St. John’s Prep, Class of ’43. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served with the Seabees of Constructi­on Battalion 119 in the Pacific, where he was awarded the American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal. Tom worked for many years with the New York Racing Associatio­n as head of mutual operations. He had been an area resident since 1978, having previously resided in Greenwich Village, New York City. He was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Parish and choir.

Surviving are his brother, George T. Gotimer Jr. of Margaretvi­lle; eight devoted nieces and nephews; and his Phoenicia caregiving friends, including Tom and Louise and Wayne and Rosalia. He was predecease­d by his siblings, Sr. Maryeugene Gotimer, S.C., Jeanne P. Buchanan, Marion E. Dupper, the Rev. Msgr. James E. Gotimer, and his partner of 49 years, Orville L. DeStatte.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Parish. Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery.
