Roosevelt, Pine Plains victorious

Roosevelt won for the second time in a month over Kingston High in football on Friday night, defeating the Tigers, 21-6, in a Section 9 crossover game. Kingston fell to 0-8 on the year. The (4-4) Presidents took control from the beginning as Elijah Hewitt returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. It was the first kickoff return for a score for Roosevelt in seven years.

E.J. Budai and Jake Niesen also ran for touchdowns for Roosevelt, which had defeated Kingston, 19-13 in overtime, in the Tigers’ homecoming game.

Led by Nijulan Smith (sack) and Devante Pavelock (intercepti­on), the Presidents’ defense kept Kingston in check for most of the night.

JaVar Tinsley ran for a touchdown (his fifth of the season) in the fourth quarter to avert the shutout for the Tigers.

Both teams will have crossover games again next week.

Pine Plains 7, Highland 0

At Pine Plains, Hunter Parks’ 15-yard intercepti­on return for a touchdown was the difference in a game decided by the Bomber defense. Pine Plains/Rhinebeck stopped Highland twice in goalline stands.

Parks rushed 15 times for 105 yards and Matt Beam and Mitchell Hutchins both ran for 70 yards to lead the (2-6) Bombers.

Isiah Daubon passed for 150 yards to pace (2-6) Highland.

Rondout 44, Dover 35

At Dover Plains, Rondout Valley outlasted Dover in a high-scoring affair. The (5-3) Ganders led 3021 at halftime and held off Dover in the fourth quarter to win.

Jaquon Futrell rushed for three touchdowns to lead (3-5) Dover before being sidelined in the final quarter by a neck injury. Monticello 34, Ellenville 6

At Monticello, Khadeem Richards ran for 69 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the (3-5) Monties. The performanc­e gave the junior a 1,000-yard season.

Ellenville is now 0-8 on the year.
