A Milton man stopped for a traffic violation on U.S. Route 9W found with numerous weapons, including daggers, brass knuckles, a sword, a loaded “disguised gun” and several loaded 30-round magazines, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday.
Claudio Amaro, 47, was arrested by Ulster County sheriff’s deputies at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and was charged with 46 felony counts of possession of a weapon and with one misdemeanor count of possession of a weapon.
Further investigation led deputies to search a storage unit in Lloyd which contained additional daggers, four disguised guns, a rifle, an assault weapon and over 35 high-capacity magazines.
Amaro was taken to the Ulster County Jail without bail.
Deputies were assisted in the investigation by Marlborough police and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office detective unit.
