Metro J. Solian Jr., 90, of East Chester Street, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at HealthAlli­ance Hospital, Broadway Campus.

Born Oct. 5, 1926, in Cementon, N.Y., he was a son of the late Metro J. Sr. and Eva (Melnik) Solian.

Mr. Solian enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II at the age of 17. He was a plank owner of the U.S.S. Springfiel­d. He was employed by Hudson Cement, worked as a jeweler in Manhattan and owned and operated a dog grooming business. Mr. Solian is a life member of Joyce-Schirick Post 1386, VFW, a member of the Operating Engineers and the Saugerties Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed gardening as well as hunting and fishing with his family.

Surviving are his son, John J. Solian Sr. and his wife JoAnn; his grandsons, John J. Solian Jr. and his wife Allison, and Michael Solian; his great-grandchild­ren, Michael and Hunter Solian; his sisters, Eva Macko, of Greenville, N.Y., and Helen Foster of Texas. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

His wife, Virginia Solian, died June 11, 2010. His sisters, Ann Corkery, Catherine Aubrey, Julie Desco, Mary Dellavechi­o and Rose Solian, and infant brother, John Solian, also died previously.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston (w w w.jvleahy f h.com). Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral procession will form Wednesday 9 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow with military honors at St. Mary’s Cemetery. JoyceSchir­ick Post 1386 VFW will conduct a ritual on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. Expression­s of sympathy in lieu of flowers may be made in the form of contributi­ons to Hudson Valley Hospice, 400 Aaron Court, Kingston, N.Y. 12401.
