Kowatch, Hines named Kingston Athletes of the Month
KINGSTON >> Olivia Kowatch and Jayson Hines were named Kingston High’s Athletes of the Month for September.
Kowatch is a senior forward/ midfielder and co-captain on the field hockey team, which recently won the Mid-Hudson Athletic League and Section 9, Class A championships.
Tigers coach Debbie Eaton described her as “an intelligent, energetic and independently motivated individual.
“Olviia is best noted for her kindness and sincerity when it comes to helping her fellow teammates,” Eaton added. “She has truly been an asset to our field hockey team this season.”
Kowatch is a member of the
National Honor Society, serves as vice president of the Spanish Honor Society
and is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee that represents Section 9 for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.
A senior captain for the cross country team, Hines
won four Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association Division I dualmeet races in September for the Tigers.
Hines is constanly challenging himself and his team to be better.
“Jayson is his own biggest critic as well as as his biggest supporter,” Kingston coach Joe Cahill said. “He believes in his abilities, because he understands what he has done to make it to this point.”
