David Rosen­baum, 80, of Kingston

David Rosen­baum, 80, passed away on Oct. 29, 2016, at Golden Hill Health Cen­ter in Kingston.

David was an ac­tor in the­ater, film and tele­vi­sion. Among his many cred­its are stage pro­duc­tions of “Tal­ley’s Folly” and the award-win­ning off-Broad­way play, “Fam­ily Busi­ness,” later filmed for Amer­i­can Play­house on PBS with Mil­ton Berle. He had a fea­tured ap­pear­ance in the film “A Stranger Among Us” with Me­lanie Grif­fith. He was prob­a­bly best known for his re­cur­ring role as an ar­raign­ment judge on “Law & Order,” for which he be­came known lo­cally as “Judge” Rosen­baum. David was the founder and artis­tic di­rec­tor of The Kingston Rep, where he pre­sented sev­eral fundrais­ers with such stars as Melissa Leo and Judd Hirsch.

Un­til mov­ing to Ul­ster County in 1999, David had lived his en­tire life in Man­hat­tan, where he at­tended the High School of Mu­sic & Art and the School of Vis­ual Arts. He served in the U.S. Army, and he stud­ied act­ing at the HB Stu­dio.

David leaves be­hind his son, Wil­liam Rosen­baum, and his friend and for­mer wife, Sukey Rosen­baum, both of Lafayette, Colo. His many friends will re­mem­ber David for his re­mark­able sense of hu­mor and his deep love for baseball, jazz and his dogs.
