SUNY New Paltz falls short in conference final

SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball’s conference playoff run came to an end when it fell to Brockport 25-21, 25-19, 24-26, 25-14 in Saturday’s State University of New York Athletic Conference final.

The Hawks fell to 19-14 while the Golden Ealges improved to 32-2 and earned an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III tournament.

Morgan Roessler had 13 kills in her final match for the Hawks.

Veronica Matedero (30 digs), Maddie Zwickl (35 digs, 16 digs) Nicole Fellone (14 digs), Anna Paulik (15 digs, five kills), Brittany Tyack (seven kills), Chantal Ramhost (six kills, three aces) and Meg Kinee (five digs) contribute­d for New Paltz.

On Friday, New Paltz advanced to its fourth straight final by sweeping Oneonta 2522, 25-22, 25-12 and avenging a regular season loss.

Paulik (eight kills, 12 digs), Morgan Roessler (seven digs, five blocks, three aces), Tyack (seven kills, two digs), Meghan Keys (six kills), Maddie Van Pelt (five kills, two aces), Zwickl (32 assists, 10 digs) and Matedero (13 digs) led New Paltz. *Leaves will be picked up: “Loose Raked” to the Road Edge or In “Bio-Degradable” Paper Bags *Bags are available for purchase at the following locations ($.40 per bag): Ulster Town Clerk’s Office (Cash or Check Accepted)
