Wil­liam M. Knox, Sr., 69, of Hunter Street, Kingston, died on Fri­day, Nov. 4, 2016, at his home sur­rounded by his lov­ing fam­ily in the care of Hospice.

Born in New Haven, Conn., he is the son of the late Os­car and Eu­nice R. (Roach) Knox, Sr.

Wil­liam was a grad­u­ate of Kingston High School and at­tended Ul­ster County Com­mu­nity Col­lege. Wil­liam was a U.S. Army Medic serv­ing dur­ing the Viet­nam War, he was awarded a Pur­ple Heart. He worked at S.C.O.R.E. in down­town Kingston, then later worked at Naponach Correction Fa­cil­ity, and he also worked at IBM.

He is sur­vived by his chil­dren: Yolanda Knox, Dana Knox, Wil­liam M. Knox, Jr., Paul W. Knox, Matthew Knox, Jechiel Knox, Damien Knox, La­marr Knox, Sr., Atiya A. Green-Knox (Charles), Kel­lina S. Knox; his sib­lings, Rosia Thoma­son, Ge­orge O. Knox, Sr., Lot­tie F. Knox, Al­fonso Knox, and Richard Hai­ley; and spe­cial nieces, Princetta Dema and Natasha J. Knox who was his care­taker. Also sur­viv­ing are 33 grand­chil­dren, 26 great-grand­chil­dren, a host of nieces, neph­ews and loved ones.

Funeral and cre­ma­tion ar­range­ments are un­der the guid­ance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Av­enue, Kingston, N.Y. www. jv leahyfh.com Friends will be re­ceived on Thurs­day from 12 to 1 p.m. at New Pro­gres­sive Bap­tist Church. A Home Go­ing Cel­e­bra­tion will take place at 1 p.m. with Rev. Paul Wor­thing­ton of­fi­ci­at­ing. Cre­ma­tion will take place a Wiltwyck Cre­ma­tory. Inurn­ment with Mil­i­tary Honors will take place on Satur­day at Wiltwyck Ceme­tery.
