Harpist performs Nov. 13 at Woodstock church
WHAT: Concert WHEN: Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. WHERE: St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church, 2578 Route 212, Woodstock DETAILS: Professional harpist Lydia Zotto will perform as part of the St. Gregory’s Young Artist Series. Zotto’s musical passion is of wide range. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, as well as the Juilliard Pre-College program, Zotto also received a master of business administration degree from Union College. As part of her current career, she has a studio in Troy, where she teaches students of ages in addition to studying for her nursing degree at Hudson Valley Community College. Hudson Valley Philharmonic concert on Nov. 19 at Bardavon
WHAT: Hudson Valley Philharmonic concert WHEN: Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. WHERE: Bardavon, 35 Market St., Poughkeepsie DETAILS: The philharmonic’s season continues with a program titled “The Immigrant Experience.” Celebrating the novel “Into the Beautiful North,” which follows a young Mexican woman’s travels to the U.S. to recruit her own “Siete Magníficos,” the program will feature three composers whose work reflects the immigrant’s journey. Also being performed will be the work of one composer who steadfastly chose to remain in the old Soviet Union. The program will feature Elmer Bernstein’s “Magnificent 7 Overture,” Heitor Villa-Lobos’ “Bachianas Brasileiras No. 4,” Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story — Symphonic Dances,” and Dmitri Shostakovich’s “Symphony No. 10 op. 93 in E minor.” Ticket prices range from $34 to $57. Ticket holders are invited to a pre-concert talk by Maestro Randall Craig Fleischer 30minutes before the concert.
