Nancy S. Po­tente of Kingsport, Tenn., a re­tired Guid­ance Coun­selor at New­burgh Free Academy in New­burgh, N.Y., en­tered into rest on Mon­day, Nov. 21, 2016, at As­bury Health Cen­ter, Kingsport, Tenn.

Daugh­ter of the late Charles and Marie (Fay) San­ga­line, she was born Nov. 21, 1932, in East Kingston, N.Y. She grad­u­ated from St. Joseph’s School and St. Ur­sula Academy in Kingston and com­pleted un­der­grad­u­ate and grad­u­ate stud­ies at SUNY, Al­bany.

Nancy was mar­ried to Louis J. Po­tente, Jr., in St. Joseph’s Church in Kingston, N.Y., on Aug. 16, 1958, and lived in New­burgh, N.Y. Af­ter re­tire­ment from the New­burgh City School Dis­trict, she and her hus­band for­merly resided in Wills­boro, N.Y., and South­port, N.C.

She taught at North Ju­nior High School for sev­eral years prior to rais­ing her fam­ily. When the boys grew a bit and were in school, she joined the Fac­ulty at NFA, taught English and His­tory and later spent sev­eral years as a stu­dent coun­selor.

Nancy was pre­ceded by a brother, Joseph San­ga­line; and a sis­ter, Mary San­ga­line Mills.

In ad­di­tion to her hus­band, Nancy is sur­vived by her brother, Charles of Hyde Park, N.Y.; her four chil­dren, James and his wife, Leanne of Kingsport, Tenn., Joseph of Bloom­ing­ton, Ill., David and his wife Amy, of De­lano, Minn., and Peter and his wife, Les­lie of Flan­ders, N.J. She is also sur­vived by eight grand­chil­dren she loved dearly, Cather­ine, L. Joseph, and Mar­garet of Ten­nessee, Dominic, Anne Marie, Marissa, and Joseph of New Jersey, and El­iz­a­beth of Min­nesota, and sev­eral nieces and neph­ews.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be held at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 2517 N John B. Den­nis Hwy, Kingsport, Tenn., 37660, on Fri­day from 9:30 to 11 a.m. A mass of Chris­tian burial will fol­low at 11 a.m. with Fa­ther Michael Cummins of­fi­ci­at­ing.

The fam­ily will hold in­tern­ment ser­vices at Cal­vary Ceme­tery in New Wind­sor, N.Y., at a later date.
