John P. Torch, 90, of New Paltz

John P. Torch, age 90, of New Paltz, N.Y., passed away on Wed­nes­day, Nov. 30, 2016, at home.

Born on Feb. 23, 1926, in New York, N.Y., he was the son of the late Frank To­cia and the late An­toinette Pu­cillo To­cia. He mar­ried Ser­a­fina Squic­cia­rini on July 16, 1949. Ser­a­fina passed away on Jan. 30, 1988.

John re­tired as a welder. He had worked for the Long Is­land Rail­road, Queens, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Army from May 8, 1944, to May 11, 1946. His life was cen­tered around his fam­ily.

Sur­viv­ing are a daugh­ter and son-in-law, An­nette and Joseph In­tra­vaia of New Paltz, N.Y.; a brother, Pasquale Franco of Florida; three grand­chil­dren, Jonathan and his wife Dana, In­tra­vaia of Mo­dena, N.Y., and John Torch and Mia Torch of Hol­brook, N.Y.; a daugh­ter-in-law, Laura Torch of Hol­brook, N.Y.; and sev­eral nieces and neph­ews.

In ad­di­tion to his wife, Ser­a­fina, he was pre­de­ceased by sev­eral brothers and sis­ters, and his com­pan­ion, Joan Weir.

Rel­a­tives and friends may call Sun­day, Dec. 4, 2016, from 1 to 4 p.m., at Copeland Fu­neral Home Inc., 162 South Putt Cor­ners Road, New Paltz, N.Y. A Mass of Chris­tian Burial will be cel­e­brated at 10 a.m. Mon­day, Dec. 6, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Church, 34 South Ch­est­nut St., New Paltz, N.Y. Burial with mil­i­tary hon­ors will fol­low at New Paltz Ru­ral Ceme­tery.
