John P. Torch, 90, of New Paltz

John P. Torch, age 90, of New Paltz, N.Y., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at home.

Born on Feb. 23, 1926, in New York, N.Y., he was the son of the late Frank Tocia and the late Antoinette Pucillo Tocia. He married Serafina Squicciari­ni on July 16, 1949. Serafina passed away on Jan. 30, 1988.

John retired as a welder. He had worked for the Long Island Railroad, Queens, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Army from May 8, 1944, to May 11, 1946. His life was centered around his family.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Joseph Intravaia of New Paltz, N.Y.; a brother, Pasquale Franco of Florida; three grandchild­ren, Jonathan and his wife Dana, Intravaia of Modena, N.Y., and John Torch and Mia Torch of Holbrook, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Laura Torch of Holbrook, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Serafina, he was predecease­d by several brothers and sisters, and his companion, Joan Weir.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, from 1 to 4 p.m., at Copeland Funeral Home Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Church, 34 South Chestnut St., New Paltz, N.Y. Burial with military honors will follow at New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
