Saugerties High clinched a berth in the Section 9, Class A boys basketball tournament by winning its regular-season finale Wednesday, defeating Highland 48-41 in a nonleague game.

Dior Johnson scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half and also had five rebounds and four assists to lead the Sawyers, who rallied from seven down at halftime.

Austin Curlin (five points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals), Omar Mazariego (three 3-point field goals for nine points) and Tavin Rell (three steals) also had key contributi­ons for Saugerties.

Andre Twyman connected for 15 points and Cameron Ness had 12 to lead Highland. At Ellenville, Jason Davis scored a career-high 23 points to lead (8-11) Red Hook to victory. The Raiders had a balanced attack with Nick Morrissey scoring 15 points, Hunter Cole getting a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Nick Cahill adding 11 points.

Jose Cruz poured in 32 points and Wesley Cruz 17 to carry (12-4) Ellenville, which rallied from 10 down in the first quarter to tie heading into the fourth. At Marlboro, the Dukes used a quartet of double-figure scorers in the win over Fallsburg. Austin Casey led the way with 18 points, while Jaiden Allen had 15, John Perugino scored 14 and Joe Nugent added 12.

Marlboro had the edge at the foul line, making 26 of 35 attempts. Fallsburg was 15-for-24 at the stripe.
