Arlene Neporent of Rye, N.Y., died Feb. 23, 2017, in White Plains, N,Y. She was 81.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of Alex and Sadie Berger Semilof.

Arlene moved to Kingston from Brooklyn in 1947. She graduated from Kingston High School, class of 1952, and Syracuse University, class of 1956. In 1956, she married her husband, Lewis Neporent. While in Kinston, she owned and operated her own travel agency, Clermont Travel, for many years. Arlene was very proud to be the first woman president of the Rotary Club in Kingston, N.Y.

Arlene is survived by two sons, Richard Neporent of Fort Lee, N.J., and Mark Neporent and his wife Lisa of Armonk; two daughters, Elizabeth Neporent and her husband Jay Shafran of New York City and Jill and her husband Theodore Heske of Suwanee, Ga.; two brothers, Harvey Semilof and Duke Semilof, both of Florida; and six grandchild­ren, Andrew, Rachel, Jeremy, Matthew Neporent, Julian Heske, and Skylar Shafran.

In addition to her parents, Arlene was predecease­d by her husband, Lewis Neporent, who passed on Sept. 29, 2009.

There will be a graveside service in Montrepose Cemetery on Sunday at 10 a.m. Cantor Bob Cohen will officiate.
