Housing Authority gets interim executive director
KINGSTON, N.Y. >> A former member of the city’s economic development team has been named interim executive director of the Kingston Housing Authority.
The appointment of Catherine Maloney, who worked in Kingston’s Office of Economic Development from 1996 to 2008, was announced by Mayor Steve Noble.
“The Kingston Housing Authority board recently voted to appoint Cathy Maloney as interim executive director,” Noble said. “It is my understanding that the board will be conducting a job search for a permanent director in the coming months. “
Maloney is taking over for Daniel Mills, who retired in January.
“I believe Cathy is a great choice to join the team in the interim to help guide the Housing authority during this transition period,” Noble said. “Cathy has a history of managing notfor-profit organizations and has a passion for housing, making her a great asset to the team.”
Maloney could not be reached for comment Friday.
Most of her work career has been in economic development.
After leaving Kingston’s Economic Development Office, Maloney became director of business development for the Dutchess County Economic Development Corp. and then its president and chief executive officer.
Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said Maloney was “a great partner in efforts to charter a new course for our economy.”
Maloney left the Dutchess agency in 2015 and became strategic sourcing manager for Ceres Technologies.
In the mid-1990s, she was executive director of the New Paltz Chamber of Commerce.
