Albert L. Wilmoth, age 84, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, March 12, 2017.

He was predecease­d by his parents, Ernie and Ruby Wilmoth, and sister, Mildred Aldridge of Scottsvile, Va.

Born in Buckingham, Va., Albert is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley C. Wilmoth; his children and their spouses: Walter Wilmoth, Gary Wilmoth and Pam Gaiser, Keith and Maggie Wilmoth, Christine and Greg Chapdelain­e, Judyann and Mark Moore; his dear sister and brotherin-law, Deborah and Ross Hanna; and brother, Billy Wilmoth of Scottsvill­e, Va. He was known as “Poppie” to his grandchild­ren, whom he dearly loved and was very proud of: Ryan and Jaclyn Moore, Deanna and Nicholas Moore, Michael and Matthew Chapdelain­e, and Tara Wilmoth. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and “adopted” children who were dear to his heart; they know who they are.

Al served in the U.S. Air Force; his duty was in Korea. After leaving the Air Force, he located to Kingston, N.Y., with Shirley, to begin their new life. Al and Shirley made their home in Lake Katrine, N.Y., where they raised their family.

Al’s career was with Central Hudson for 36 years. He retired in 1992.

Al was a wonderful storytelle­r; his love for people was huge. We will miss our wonderful husband, father, and friend to all.

A private memorial service will be held for family and friends.
