‘Climate Advocate Workshop’ April 2
The newly founded Mid-Hudson chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby is offering a “Climate Advocate Training” workshop April 2 at Bard College.
The workshop will start at 1 p.m. in Room 214 of the Bertlesmann Campus Center.
The workshop is free and will teach the nuts and bolts of building political will and creating change through congressional lobbying and other actions.
Citizens’ Climate Lobby has approaches for achieving change through building relationships with lawmakers and focusing on specific market-based, consumer-friendly solutions that have received support from conservatives and liberals.
In addition to lobbying, there will be varied roles for volunteers depending on individual interests.

April 3 lecture will focus on Islamophobia
Theologian, scholar and public educator Jerusha T. Lamptey will explore Islamophobia in her lecture “Islamophobia: Headlines, Hate and Hope” April 3 at Vassar College.
The lecture will begin at 6 p.m. in the Villard Room of Vassar’s Main Building.
Lamptey is assistant professor of Islam and ministry as well as director of the Islam, Social Justice and Interreligious Engagement Program at the Union Theological Seminary in New York City.
Her work and writing focus on Islamic feminism, interreligious engagement, religious pluralism and social justice. She is the author of “Never Wholly Other: A Muslima Theology of Religious Pluralism,” which reinterprets the Koranic discourse on religious “otherness” and diversity.
The lecture is sponsored by Vassar’s Campus Life/ Religious & Spiritual Life Office, Religion Department, ALANA Center and Muslim Student Union.
