STOCKADE REVEALS ROSTER FOR SEASON
14 players with the team during its inaugural season are returning
After gauging 225 players through five tryouts, the semi-pro Kingston Stockade FC has unveiled its initial 33man roster for its upcoming second season in the National Premier Soccer League.
“We’re thrilled that these players have decided to join Stockade FC this season,” new head coach David Lindholm said. “It’s a group capable of playing at a high level while also being great ambassadors for soccer in the Hudson Valley. I want to thank every player that tried out for the team, since they left us with a lot of difficult decisions and allowed us to make the strongest squad possible.”
The lineup features 14 returning players and 19 newcomers.
Returnees are defenders Jamal Lis-Simmons of Highland, Dom Steigerwald from Dutchess Community College, plus midfielders Matt Koziol (Poughkeepsie), Ross Macklin (Vassar), forwards Scott Zobre (Poughkeepsie), Eric Fortier (Oneonta), Paulino Curto (Siena), defenders Matel Anasta (Catskill), Phil Barrett (Clifton Park), Joe Bogart (Hyde Park), Juan Gatti (East Tarrytown), goalkeepers David Giddings (Newburgh) and Steve Skonieczny (Marist) and English standout forward Michael Creswick.
Newcomers are goalies Gianni Carillo (Siena) and Lyle Howe (Coral Springs, Florida); defenders Eamonn Conway (Siena), Kevin Davis (Beacon), Kevin Kappock (Marist), Nick Kolaj (Baruch College), Kyle LeClerc (Beacon), Ernest Mitchell (Marist); midfielders Dan Alvarado (Costa Rica), Mikey Lanzetta (Somers), Mike Nittolo (Poughkeepsie), Mike Corbi (Hopewell Junction), Mike Konikoff (Boston College), Brandon Curtis (Marist), Alessandro Persampieri (Tuckahoe), Victor Guirma (New Paltz), Marco Kloster (Siena); and forwards Bruce Jeter (Marist) and David Siriboe (Marist).
The new roster features 17 players from the Hudson Valley and 10 from Division I colleges.
The Stockade held two rounds of open tryouts and three rounds of invitation-only tryouts to create the 2017 squad.
The season begins May 6 with the Stockade playing host to the Hartford City FC in a 5 p.m. match at Dietz Stadium.
