Douglas Parker Ballantine, 61, of New Paltz, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

He was born Jan. 17, 1956, in Kingston, N.Y., to Shirley (Pratt) Ballantine and the late Samuel Parker Ballantine.

Douglas was a Kingston High School Graduate Class of 1974. He operated his own electrical business, Riverview Electric, in New Paltz. Douglas was a member of Church of the Nazarene in New Paltz. He was extremely mechanical and enjoyed fixing anything with motors. He loved working on and riding motorcycle­s, especially his 67’ Harley Davidson. He was an outwardly appreciati­ve person, he gained the love and respect of many through his kindness and willingnes­s to help people. He also was an avid Civil War History buff.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Zachary Douglas Ballantine and his girlfriend Sierra Finch of New Paltz; his fiancée, Lin Sisto of Gardiner; his brother, Roger Ballantine and his wife Karen of Catskill; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston. A memorial service will be held at Grace Church, 160 Serema Ct., Lake Katrine, N.Y., 12449, on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 3 p.m. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons be made to Hudson Valley Hospice at www.hvhospice.org or Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwar­rior project.org
